The Surroundings page is dedicated to local recommendations.
This is where you highlight the places you personally recommend to your guests, such as:
restaurants
shops
cultural spots
activities
points of interest
The goal is not to replace Google Maps.
Guests will still use Google Maps if they want to see everything around them.
The Surroundings page exists to show your curated recommendations, based on your experience and local knowledge.
How the Surroundings page works
Just like the Modules page, the Surroundings page is organized around categories and places.
Everything can be freely organized, reordered, and customized.
Standard surroundings (manual recommendations)
Categories
You start by creating categories to organize your recommendations.
You can:
create as many categories as you want
name them freely
reorder or delete them at any time
Examples of categories:
Restaurants
Shops
Culture
Activities
Japanese restaurants
Italian restaurants
👉 The more specific your categories are, the clearer the experience is for guests.
Adding a place to a category
When adding a place, you have three options:
1. Search from Google Maps (recommended)
This is the most reliable option.
Simply search for the place name
If it exists on Google Maps, Sunver will find it automatically
All key information is retrieved (name, location, map link, etc.)
This works for restaurants, museums, shops, attractions, and more.
2. Nearby places (community)
You can also select places suggested nearby.
⚠️ This option works best in large cities and may be less relevant in smaller areas.
3. Create from scratch
If a place does not exist on Google Maps, you can create it manually.
This allows you to:
add the name and description
choose the image
provide any custom information you want
What information can be added to a place?
For each surrounding place, you can include:
a Google Maps link (for easy navigation)
a phone number
a website link
a personal comment or recommendation
a promo code or special note (useful for partnerships or affiliations)
This makes your recommendations more valuable and more personal than a generic map.
GetYourGuide surroundings (activities with commission)
In addition to manual recommendations, Sunver also offers GetYourGuide surroundings.
This allows you to:
recommend paid activities from GetYourGuide
improve the guest experience
earn 8% commission on every booking made by your guests
Creating a GetYourGuide category
To add GetYourGuide activities:
create a new category
choose GetYourGuide category
select activity types from GetYourGuide
💡 Best practice:
select 1 or 2 activity types maximum per category
if you want more activities, create multiple categories
For example:
Nature & discovery
Guided tours
Outdoor activities
This keeps the page readable and enjoyable for guests.
Optional and flexible by design
GetYourGuide integration is completely optional.
You are free to:
use only manual recommendations
use only GetYourGuide
or combine both approaches
Organizing your surroundings
Surroundings work very similarly to modules.
You can:
reorder categories and places
move places between categories
organize everything using drag and drop
Once saved, changes are applied immediately and visible to guests.
